Peaceful and beautiful

Right next to Asokaramaya Temple, so make sure to visit both of them at the same time. Wonderful decorations and very peaceful.

We were glad it was free entry and our friends found it very interesting, but there were too many donation boxes around. One could be placed on exit.

After seeing the nice elaborate wall with carvings of deer and such on the front side of the temple grounds, it was just kind of a "let down" once inside the grounds since the only things to see are a "fairly big" cone-shaped chedi structure with sculptures of elephant heads around its base and a tree with four Buddhas underneath... Nice and quiet place. Can spend about an hour at a leisurely pace. Entry fee is 1 usd , but we aware if being charged in LKR . The guy just charges anything. Nothing wrong in paying extra at a temple , but is should be of our free will, not induced by somebody else's. Worth a look.

Nice place. Locals say it is their main Buddhist temple. Nice, but having been in Tibet too, I find it just OK. Most interesting was the amphitheatrical statues on the back, the tree inside the temple and the fish and elephant on the rear side.

A peaceful Sri Lankan Buddhist temple with extraordinary indoor murals and well worth a visit. The temple is easy to get to on Isipathana Road in Colombo 5 and those seeking a visit to a real temple should make their way here.

Its huge statue. But not gone inside. Well kept. No Noise and very littler crowd. Can spend some time. As many of Srilnakans are Buddhists

We were taken there as we lived very close to the temple. Quiet & makes your mind so peaceful once you are in there. Very crowded on poya days
