Iskanderkul is a large, beautiful colored lake. However the lakes in the Fann mountains and trekking opportunities there are superior to Iskanderkul. Hiking in nearby saratog valley also better.

If you visit the other lakes in Fann mountains, just pass thru or don't go there! The mountain lakes are MUCH more beautiful. The payed campsite is average at best and the "restaurant and hotel" just at the entrance to the lake is terrible! The...More

Stayed in a hostel/homestay up the valley from the lake - there is accommodation on the lake in small cabins, but the hostel gets you up a lot higher - depending on the spelling, the village is Sarytag, or Saritag. Nascent tourist business - a...More

It was a long drive but it was totally worth it - the scenery on the way and there was stunning. The contrast between the dry mountains and fertile valleys was stark, with the gorgeous blue glacial water.

The drive there from Dushanbe took bit less than 3h and was definitely worth it! The lake in mountain views looked amazing. It's worth to walk to the waterfall as well and to the mountain close to entry gate to get panorama view.
