We took a tour with Yasir in November. He was very knowledgeable and organized. We learnt interesting information about Turkey and Istanbul, some of them I still wonder if were true or jokes. We were a small group so that added to the value of the tour. What I found quite interesting was selling paid tours on free tour -... More

Yasar Isik spoke excellent and was very informative. There were only three of us so he adapted the tour to what we wanted to see. He showed us some very interesting places and had a wealth of knowledge to share with us. He also gave us tips on where to buy things and what not to do. Perfect walking tour!

I had Pertev (older smaller man, native Istanbul-ite) for the free walking tour in early November on a chilly day. The tour was worth a tip but needs improvement. +good things 1. Pertev's English was easily comprehensible. Fast and clear. Really no problem with that. 2. He has been doing tours for a long time and he clearly has a... More

excellent knowledge of history and cruise. I would just skip the restaurant part. walk from restaurant to the boat was the most amazing part as we went to areas lesser known

Yasar isik was my tour guide that day and he has been very good in telling us about the history and cultures of Istanbul. However it's been slightly too salesy on his paid tour/cruise San it would be slightly better if he can cover 1-2 more tourist spots

This is an excellent FREE tour and no catch! My husband and I did this free guided tour with Erdem who was excellent and knowledgeable tour guide. We took this tour on our first day and it definitely gave us sense of bearing of Istanbul and where things are. We would also highly recommend BOSPHORUS CRUISE AND OLD CITY which... More

Tour guide Yusuf Bardavid was fantastic. Not only did we walk around the famous buildings of the old town but Yusuf filled in a lot of interesting history and answered all the questions the group had. The tour lasted approximately 2 hours. Istanbul is a beautiful city. The local people are lovely and very helpful...

I just had this tour with my family this morning with a very nice tour guide. We walked around pretty slowly which was nice to my parents and the tour guide gave us some valuable information on historic places around and which ones are worth seeing. Erdem appeared very casual and passionate. I recommend this to everyone who want to... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
