Not much left, but worth seeing if you are aware of some of its history. This is the site where the Byzantine Empress Theodora was a circus performer in her pre-royal life. And the outcome of chariot races in the Hippodrome actually had a significant...More

This is definitely a sight that most people stop and see before or after visiting the Blue Mosque as it is located to the side of the mosque. There are a number of Obelisk and Columns within the Hippodrome which was in fact the site...More

I lived in Istanbul for two years (1991-1992). There is more left of the Hippodrome than many visitors are aware of. Specifically, if you go behind the Hippodrome (opposite end from the Haiga Sophia) you can see the about 4 stories of the stadium walls....More

Look, it’s just an open space with some ancient obelisks and towers. No actual remnants of the Byzantine racecourse are visible. But it’s a lovely place to sit and soak up the ambience of Sultanahmet

It is an old hippodrome converted into a pretty square now. There are quite a few interesting objects on it too, such as an Egyptian obelisk and the German Fountain. Worth a walk.

It stands where an old racing track used to be and it is in the same complex as the other monuments like the obelisk, blue mosque, hagia sophia etc...

The Hippodrome was an old racing track and sporting center of the ancient times. Since it is where the Blue Mosque is, it is a might as well visit. But really, there is nothing much here.

If you have a good guide it should be interesting. If not, it’s just a park and some columns. It is exactly near the Blue Mosque

Yes it is, it’s just an open square with only the remains of some structures (e.g. Obelisk) - you no longer can see the whole Hippodrome structure.

This place is an open area without entry tickets. What’s left in this place are just ruins; so it won’t take more than 20 minutes to see whatever that remains standing here. But you can spend some time strolling around the... More
