Galata kulesi is wonderful. It built in 500 A.D. And now it's very good condition. When you up on Tower here is very nice panorama of iStanbul. It's cost 5 lira for students.

It is a must to go if you like to see the overall view of Istanbul's main attractions. Be prepared to queue for at least 30 mins. You can skip the simulated helicopter tour. We didn't find it special. Oops

The view is amazing especially in the evening . It is a very good idea to put there an elevator because it is difficult to use the stairs.

There is a cafe and also there is a Restaurant. I believe you will not be requiring a reservation prior as most of the time its empty. But in case you can inquire at the reception at the bottom of Galata
