Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamam; The elegant authentic surroundings of this Turkish bath, magnificent creation of Mimar Sinan, transcends the timeless barriers between old and new… Giving you an escape from the hustle and bustle of beautiful Istanbul City.Mimar Sinan the legendary Architect of that period was commissioned by “Kilic Ali Pasa” to build the Hamam to withstand the ravages of the sea and time. The large light, Magnificent Dome above the Camegah (relaxation area) is 14 meters across and 17 meters high one of the largest single domes built by Sinan. The features of the Kulhan Chimney/exhaust, the leaded domes and the glass elephant eyes along with brick by brick reappointing, original Kurnas and some carved stone and marble slabs found during excavation have been retained and used within the premises adding to its extreme historical beauty and interest. The Hamam Ritual is an ancient one, the materials used have not significantly changed and used to restore energy and vitality to the body by reducing the toxins, and allowing the skin to breathe again

This outstanding hamam is recently refurbished and absolutely stunning. You feel relaxed immediately upon entering. Very reasonably priced (cheap by U.S. standards) and I can't wait to go again. Don't forget to add on an oil massage after your bath amd you'll feel extra pampered and relaxed. They have separate ladies and mens days, so full relaxation and peace is... More

I experienced my first turkish hamam here and it was excellent. The building is magnificent. You lay down on a warm marble surface looking up to a beautiful white dome with sunlight shining in. You just need to sit, relax and let the turkish men lather you in soup and pour you in warm water. I did a full body... More

It was our 3rd time in a Turkish hamam. Super professional service and very clean. Nicely renovated place. There are few really good ones but not this professional. A must go.

The women and men service has separate time frame. So it is not for couples. Do make a reservation in advance. The place is very clean, the atmosphere is calm, service and facilities are good, feel like reborn after the bathing ritual. There are also oil massage services in dry room if you wanna pamper yourself more!

I was cringing at the idea of going to the hamam, letting another person touch me and give me a bath. But I was told the hamam is an essential turkish experience so I picked up a bit of courage and walked inside this beautiful atmospherical hamam. The staff were quick to put me at ease. The masseur was excellent... More

During my travel in istanbul, i visited this hamam twice. The location of this hamam is quite convenient to most of the visitors, just take a tram and get off at tophane station, its just beside the beautiful Ali Pasa mosque. I have been to other hamam in istanbul, but i think this one is the best, quite clean, you... More

Turkish baths are a must go in Istanbul, for its tradition amongst people and history. A friend recommended I went to another establishement, supposed to be the "original" one, founded in the 1500's, but staff at the hotel advised me on complaints regarding its' cleanliness (the place was de Çemberlitas hammami next to the Blue Mosque). So I booked a... More

Staying in Karakoy

Neighbourhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
