This is an impressive fountain as are many of the fountains in Istanbul and this is very different from the fountains built in Ottoman times. It is incredible that Turkey had such a close association with Germany to warrant this fountain being built as a...More

Of minor historical importance, the attractive yet unremarkable fountain is worth a quick picture stop when touring the Hippodrome.

Nothing much to see, just a monument to photo in passing from one place to another. Located at on end of the hippodrome en route to the next location.

This monument commemorating the second anniversary of German Emperor Wilhelm II's visit to Istanbul in 1898 located at the beginning of the Hippodrome square at the northern side. It attracts many tourists and stand besides the Blue Mosque.

If this fountain would be anywhere else it probably would not be as impressive but as it adjacent to Sultan Hammed square it makes it quite special. It blends completely with its historical environment

Worth having a closer look at this on the way to Sultanahmet mosque. Very detailed inside the dome. Relatively new compared to surrounding monuments.

This fountain is in the hippodrome in front of the Blue Mosque. The area is a good place to take a stroll and see the sights. Tourists can be hassled by all sorts of salesman selling carpets, photos and books but they can be easily...More

Pretty good looking fountain with gold on the interior of the dome. At the surface level this is worth a visit because it's between the blue mosque and hagia sofa - so why not. Its a prime spot for some good photos with depth play....More

I like this Fountain, it's a good symbol of the ottoman and German relationship. I like to take photos of this Fountain especially when birds sit on it

With so many unmissable attractions within a mere
stroll of each other – and all set around the site of
an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an
overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a
prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly
epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the
Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this
relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to
