Great buying experience, treated me like family, and were not pushy

This was a great buying experience. The shop is in the basement, tastefully decorated, of the Ayasoluk hotel, which I think is a good thing for customers as the hotel reflects on the carpet shop and the carpet shop in the hotel. I was staying at their hotel for 9 days. Murselin waited for me to be ready and did... More

We were in Turkey for two weeks. Istanbul, Selcuk, Cappadocia and Ankara. We looked at carpets at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul but felt way too pressured and decided to wait. So glad we did. Our experience with Black Sheep Carpets was fabulous. Friendly, no pressure, lots of information. We felt totally comfortable buying from them. Price included shipping to... More

In general, they have a good selection of carpets and the store is clean and organized. However, customer service was not typical of what I've experienced in other shops throughout Turkey. The "music man" seemed more interested in "wooing" my friend and I with inappropriate innuendos and he loved talking about the mirror in the ceiling. Contrary to other reviews,... More

We have a couple of Turkish rugs purchsed previously from other rug sellers in Turkey. So we weren't really in need of another one. But when you see the right rug and imagine it in the right room of your house, you just can't let an opportunity pass. Murselin is a great salesman but in the truest sense just wants... More

They can sell a carpet to a homeless couple! Let me explain... We are in Turkey as part of a two month trip as we move from San Francisco to Anchorage. For a few reasons, we will choose a home after we arrive there, so we don't even have an address yet. So was it silly for us to walk... More

My family and I went to The Black Sheep Carpet shop while visiting Selçuk last week. Murselin was very kind, and didn't pressure us. We had tea and discussed the culture of Turkey, and he explained the history and technique behind the carpets. I had already purchased a rug in Istanbul, and I am quite picky when it comes to... My wife and I have been traveling across Turkey for the last week and this shop has the most vibrant and beautiful inventory of carpet sellers we have come across. Murselin, the shopkeeper, is very knowledgeable and friendly. Make sure to check out the upstairs showroom too.

We had a wonderful experience here browsing through all of the beautiful rugs! The more than gracious seller, Murselin treated us to tea and a musical performance before helping us search through the enormous selection. We let him know what price range we were looking in and he showed us a great variety within that range, making sure to tell... More

I first found it pretty easy to resist buying a carpet during my visit to Turkey as the shop owners were way too aggressive for my taste and I didn't plan to buy one anyway. I will admit that in Istanbul and Selcuk the carpets were beautiful but I still wasn't budging, until we met Murselin and visited Black Sheep... More

If you have the time during your visit to Efes take the time to explore Selçuk and visit Aydin and/or Murselin at The Black Sheep Carpet shop. You won't be disappointed. While they are in business to sell carpets, they will not pressure you to the point of frustration. They are extremely knowledgeable about carpets and kilims and spend quality... More
