What a treat to see these "gates" still very much in use and the markets and vendors around them, similar to how it would have been centuries ago. I would recommend arriving at this gate to the city if it is your first time, very impressive.

Right at entry... you feel the magic and pull of history. Immediately inside- look for the sign "Rampart Walks"... and take 35 min (download audio) to wander on top of walls for orientation and fab views.

When we visiting Jerusalem old city we always entry through Jaffa gate. There is a proper parking under new build shopping centre and it easy to get to Jaffa gate from there. Jaffa gate is one of architectural jewels of Jerusalem. Near Jaffa gate is also very nice tower which called David's tower. This gate was named Jaffa because it was... More

key entrance to the old city - and a good meeting place if you need to meet up with folks. Well lit, safe, easy access.

Historically the Jaffa Gate is really interesting. But be careful of all the really aggressive sellers who congregate here. They are very persistent and you have to be rude to get away from them

Since Jerusalem is on a hill, and the Jaffa gate is basically at the top of the hill, this is a good place to start your tour of Jerusalem. Also, if you start your tour in the morning, this part of town is not as crowed as the Via Dolorosa at the lower end of town, which makes shopping much... More

I think this is the main Gate to enter the Old City and you'll have from the beginning a hint about how old this city really is. If you can, enter this gate and live the old City by Damascus Gate. You'll undertsand why...

We often met our guide here to tour the Old City; also used this as "meet here if we get separated" spot. From the Palestinean border, we found a city bus that goes straight to here as well.

It was very busy here and you have to watch your step as the pathways are quite slippery due to having so many people walking over them, a great place though with lots of history. Jerusalem is an amazing place with great architecture
