One of the ideal starting points to explore Jerusalem's old town, mainly the Armenian, Arabic and Jewish quarters. Just before entering you have a modern shopping mall, tastefully done in a similar style. Check on google map your location too and you'll find the border of Israel and Westbank there too.

Jaffa Gate, dividing line between Armenian and Christian quarters. Start a circular tour of the old city. Starting in the Armenian section, pass the Tower of David, today a museum. Armenian section is filled with beautiful ceramics. Continue on to the Armenian Orthodox Patriache Road, passing the Armenian Convent of St Jacques. Enter through the Zion Gate into the Jewish... Walk through the shook here and you will go back in time. Fairly certain that aside from the metal gates on the stalls, this is what it was like to shop 2000 years ago.

This was the name given to the old trading of oranges to the rest of the world from Jerusalem it's a lovely story and a relief from all the religious history such a tribute to our guide who catered so well to us all.

Pass through the Jaffa Gate and you enter upon a place where time has seemingly stood still for generations. Y=The plaza that abuts the Armenian quarter, that provides access to the historic Arab shout and that also leads to the O)ld Jewish Quarter and ultimately the Western Wall and the Temple Mount is unique. But be careful of the cobblestones... More

It is an historic gate and entrance to the Old City. We walked through it many times and it is always busy. A good reference point if you get lost.

We passed through this gate many times. One time at night they had it closed. apparently some diplomat was visiting so they had a heavy military presence and dogs. It was cool.

I found this area to be very interesting from one perspective but disappointing from another. Interesting to see all the Palitinian market shops lining the Via dela Rosa, so colourful but I did feel like I was being accosted by the sellers trying to sell their wears. You can see they love to bargain. Now on the other hand I... More
