The church itself is fairly modern (19th century) but you should definitely go to see the bell tower. It's a steep climb and I hit my head a few times but the views are incredible.

We did not get to see the view from the tower. The weather was prohibitive and visibility none. But the church is beautiful. It was dedicated by Keiser Wilhelm II in the end of 19th century.

The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer is a lovely German Protestant church built between 1893 and 1898 by the architect Paul Ferdinand Groth following the designs of the architect Friedrich Adler. It houses Lutheran congregations that worship in Arabic, German, Danish, and English.

Close to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, this seemingly simple church. which can by Identified by the Maltese Cross and its tall tower offers a unique look of the old city both from above (the best 360 look of the old ciry) as well as from below (with its sub terranian archeological park). Don't miss visiting the inner garden... More

If it is a view you are looking for then climb the tower. For a mere 15 Shekels you get to see the whole old city and Temple Mount. Best to this early in the day when one is still fresh!

Beautiful Lutheran Church! With a small fee you can go to the excavations in the lower floor, or go up to the highest view point within the old city. (lots of stairs - so beware) Before exiting, don't forget to visit the rest of the complex! beautiful patio and corridors!
