My previous visit to this site was over forty years ago. The monument is still in good condition and the maintenance is good. Aside from its expression of the friendship and ties between the American and Israeli people, this hill top site gives beautiful vistas of the surrounding hills. When looking at the surrounding forests, keep in mind that seventy... More

Even for those of us who grew up thinking the Kennedy assassination was a horrible tragedy, this memorial is still a bit...odd (if I were more critical, I might even say irrelevant). It occupies an incredibly beautiful mountaintop, just outside Jerusalem, overlooking two steep valleys -- so for the view, it's worth making the trip. But to be honest, there... More

Built in 1966 (3 years after the assassination) architect David Resnick together with the sculptor Dov Feigin created a meaningful memorial to John F. Kennedy, President of the USA. The building is shaped like the stump of a felled tree, which symbolizes a life cut too short. The "trunk" is encircled by 51 columns, representing 50 states + one for... More

The concrete memorial is very unattractive. Inside is cold and empty, with a bas-relief of JFK tucked away, completely out of proportion to the inner space. Each pillar has a state seal - why? What does that have to do with anything? The saving grace is the view from up on high, which is beautiful.

It is located on a mountain, not far from Jerusalem. It's an impressive monument from the 60's that looks like the shape of a tree stump, to emphasize the tragedy of the murder of the young U.S president JFK. It 's made from bare concrete, it has 50 columns, each for a one state of the United States on America.... More

The memorial was designed by the Architect David Reznik, born in Brazil, who made Israel his home in the late 40's. He was a student and friend of the great and world renowned Oscar Niemeyer - and they both passed away in 2012. You can find most of Reznik's work in Jerusalem, from simple apartment buildings to special landmarks and... More

The memorial forest surrounds a circular memorial meant to portray a tree cut down before its time, the ribs of which represent the 50 states with the seal of each in between. A little out of the way but an impressive spot.

This simple yet stunning memorial is something I didn't expect to find in the forests of Jerusalem. It is beautifully unique, completely in the round with very interesting quotes from notable Americans and lovely surroundings. I would definitely put it on a list to visit, maybe not if you have only a few days to see Israel, but certainly of... More
