According to ancient texts, Moses saw the Land of Canaan from Mt Nebo. The Promised Land can be seen in a beautiful view over the Jordan Valley. Moses did not enter the Promised Land, his burial place is unknown.

Interesting & detailed ancient Christian mosaics. Viewpoint with a good panoramic view towards Israel, but unfortunately conditions were hazy when I visited. Not part of Jordan Pass, but entry cost is minimal. Obviously of great religious significance to some as the place where supposedly God showed Moses the Promised Land, which I can't help thinking was a historical prelude to today's current conflicts.

During our journey through Jordan, we visited also the Mount Nebo. It is a very nice quiet place, very clean and well arranged. If you are traveling to Jordan, it is worth to see it. The church is also very nicely reconstructed so you can see the entire past of the place. You can buy there some souvenirs also.

Visited Jordan essentially for 4 main attractions - Petra, Mount Nebo, Baptism Site of Jesus and Dead Sea Floating . Visiting Mount Nebo attained one of the goals and it did not disappoint . It was 3JOD to access the site without/with the Jordan Pass. The place to me was worth the admission fees for the upkeep of the site, the well maintained churches as well as relics. Certainly a worthwhile place visit to pay respect to.

After visiting Madaba, we went to Mount Nebo, which is part of the Abarim mountain range. This location is mentioned in the Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land before his death. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the West Bank across the Jordan River valley. The city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day. According to the Bible (Deuteronomy), Moses ascended Mount Nebo, in the land of Moab (today in Jordan), and from there he saw the Land of Canaan (the Promised Land), which God had said he would not enter; Moses then died there. Mount Nebo is also mentioned in the Bible when the prophet Jeremiah hid the tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant in a cave there. A serpentine cross sculpture atop Mount Nebo was created by Italian artist Gian Paolo Fantoni. It is symbolic of the miracle of the bronze serpent invoked by Moses in the wilderness and the cross upon which Jesus was crucified.

I was surprised by how beautiful this spot is. The church is not much to look at from the outside, but the mosaics inside are beautiful. And to stand on the spot where Moses was shown the promised land is amazing. The views over the Jordan valley are amazing. Definitely worth the trip.

Beautiful site. Nice spot to overlook the Holy Land. Unfortunately we went on an overcast day but it was still a very nice view. There are various sculptures outdoors & olive trees, a lovely setting. The inside of the church is very beautiful, there are several large mosaics some of which are displayed on the walls. The lighting in the church is very good so one can appreciate the beauty of the mosaics,I enjoyed the mosaics here more than the ones in Madaba where the sites have poor lighting.

Mount Nebo was where Moses saw the Promised Land after wandering in the desert. The Franciscan monastery there has a Memorial to Moses. As you enter the site, you see "The Book of Love among Nations Monument", a sculpture by Vicenzo Bianchi, dedicated in 2000 to Pope John Paul II after his visit here. Continue walking until you get to the viewpoint. Admire the view that Moses saw. (It was a bit hazy on the day I visited so it was difficult to see Jerusalem.) Inside the Memorial of Moses are many beautiful mosaics. There is also a small museum.

I visited as a part of a group tour. Immediately on arrival I was struck by the peace - it's somewhere you can just sit and appreciate where you are. The views are fantastic and the mosaic inside the chapel impressive. If you are lucky you will see one of the Franciscan monks who look after the place. The loos were also the best I came across in Jordan!

There isn’t really a lot to see here - but the views of where it’s believed Moses stood to view The Promised Land are pretty spectacular. There are toilets and a little cafe on site. There’s also a little gift shop which, if you are interested in buying religious paraphernalia I recommend that you buy it here, as it’s somewhat cheaper than in Madaba.
