Old souk of muscat

This is traditional place, narrow streets with shops on sides. Where you can buy traditional things like food, species, souvenirs, antiques ... Very nice architect

been in a number of souks over the years and this one ranks very highly - people very friendly, great for negotiating purchasing deals and next to Istanbul (which i think is the best in the world) I rate this as great to wander round - spices, clothes, rugs, ornaments of every type of gift you would want to buy.... I consider this souk to be the must visit in Muscat. If you have time to visit only one attraction in Muscat, make this your choice without hesitation. It is unique and pleasurable. Spare enough time to explore the narrow passages and hidden corners. There is always something new ahead.

Not the best place in Muscat. Might be of interest to you if one wants to pick some souvenirs and do some odd shopping. All in all an average souk experience.

The old suq provides a beautiful architecture, but you shouln't buy anything. Since cruise ships are stopping in Muscat frequently and hundreds of ship tourists are carried to the suq by travel agencies the prices have been exploded. Please be aware that Oman is NOT Turkey or Marokko and negotiating prices is not very usual. It's more or less embarrassing... More

I really enjoyed browsing the souq in Muttrah, but remember to haggle hard, try to find places further away from the Corniche and the main avenues and never look too interested in what you are planning on buying. Despite the fact that it supposedly closes during the afternoon, in practice, a lot of the ones on the main avenues stay... More

Everyone was very friendly they do try to stop you as you are walking through but great atmosphere would highly recommend

The Old Muttrah souq is an authentic omani souq where even locals go there to shop. It's the place to buy cheap and original souvenirs. Negotiating the price is permitted there and is encouraged, but not too much.
