A must do if in UAE
Holidaying with family in Dubai and this was on our agenda. I would highly recommend a visit here, the building is simply stunning. BUT please check that you follow the dress code advice, they are very strict. One of our party was turned away multiple times for slight infringements - her wrists could be seen, her abaya was hanging open at front, her abaya was slightly sheer. Entry involves passing through various checkpoints to make sure dress code is adhered to. Similarly within the mosque. That being said it was a fabulous visit, the first part which is reached via an incongruous underground mall, has moving walkways with pictures and information about the history of the mosque. Once you arrive out into the open again the building stands in front of you. A glorious sight. There are designated photo opportunity sites which help keep the crowds moving. It is possible to be shown round by a guide, but we preferred not too. There are information boards to explain about the architectural features. The visit includes the very large prayer room - this was the most crowded part of the trip and progress here was slower but definitely a must do. Outside there are beautiful well tended gardens. Then back through the underground walkways, via the obligatory gift shop and into the mall. At this point it is very welcome as there are coffee shops and places to get refreshments. Certainly a must do - if visiting UAE.

    Afternoon Visit and Guided Tour
Dress attire must follow their guidelines or you will not be permitted entry, point blank. For women it's trickier given the heat - hair must be concealed, no cleavage, feet must also not be exposed. There are stores in the underground and adjacent mall that sell attire to fit the mosque's requirements. Parking is underground and such that you go through this mall to enter. Re the mosque itself - it is absolutely beautiful. Expect to spend an hour alone to go through it at your own pace, on top of the guided tour that takes about an hour. Totally worth seeing it in the day time and at night - we went twice!

    Beautiful Mosque
We visit the Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque and dressed like a local people. It's better to book earlier to have an access and avoid a long queue. It's really really worth visiting this place.

    Lovely building
Lovely mosque to visit. It is free but you need to get a ticket online/at a kiosk first. There are many shops in the mall part that sell modest clothing for ladies to wear to the mosque (they no longer provide these for free to rent). It felt a little bit impersonal compared to the mosque in Muscat as we were assigned to a set path and there were no volunteers to talk to about the mosque/Islam etc.

    Stunning!
Stunning! We’ll worth a visit. Organised extremely well and plenty of facilities in the mall prior to the visitor centre. The mosque is architecturally amazing and plenty of opportunities for photos. Woman should dress conservatively and head scarf is required to enter also. It’s free admission too.

For good reasons it is the #1 site of interest in Abu Dhabi.
We kept our visit of the mosque for our last day in the UAE. We had reserved our free visit online - unfortunately we had inadvertently selected 6pm instead of 4pm. The staff were kind enough to let us through. As we had read, the dress code was strictly enforced hence we had come prepared - wearing long pants for the first time in three months of travelling. We first visited the mosque by ourselves taking plenty of pictures along the way. Thankfully we decided to stick around for the free 5:00pm cultural tour of the mosque with Asma. The guided visit proved to be the most insightful experience for us in the UAE. Asma patiently answered all of our questions. Thank you for an amazing visit.

    Nice photo spot
Wow, this mosque is really a nice photo spot, especially around the sunset time, lights are just turn on. Beautiful and delicate carpet and huge lights have shaken me, so luxury and so rich, I can’t find another word to describe the feeling. Here are a few tips if you plan to visit here: 1, come after 4pm to avoid the strong sunlight. 2, don’t miss the oasis of dignity and view point on the mosque, they’re just steps away and give you a nice whole view of the mosque. 3, get your QR code in advance cause you need to scan them to enter the mosque, you can get the QR code on their website.

    Wow
Great experience, I highly recommend this place for the views and the beautiful decor. The mosque is very grand. There is shops on site for you to buy cover up if you do turn up uncovered. There is food restaurant as you come out the mosque or before you enter. Would visit again.

    Beautiful
A beautiful mosque and wonderful to walk around and take stunning photos. Well organised with shops to purchase an abaya or headscarf before your visit, but easier to just come prepared. A must see in Abu Dhabi.

    Amazing mosque. Must visit!!
This mosque is absolutely amazing. The dress code is very strict as they do deny entry if not dressed properly. Make sure your head, arms, ankles is covered. If you don’t have the proper attire you can go across the street to the mall. There’s a store inside that sells scarves to wrap your head and long gowns. It’s definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend it!

The mosque is a free to get in and a taxi one way from the city costs about 35 Dirhams. Please read the required dresscode associated with the visit, as quite correctly you will not be let in if you are dressed inappropraitely.

We booked the free "cultural experience" tour from the moseque website but be warned the starting off point is not obvious and we missed our slot. The entrance to the mosque for visitors is through a glassdome about 100m from the mosque itself. This takes you down into a shopping mall and eventually through airport security scanners and then on airport style travelators to the moseque itslef.

Quite naturally people then want to stop and take pictures of the beautiful blue pool and other photo opportunities as you go but the starting off point for the cultural tour is inside the mosque after queuing up for several picture stops. I think it took us about 35-40 mins to get to it after we first entered the glassdome! Hence we missed out slot, if we had known we would have pushed on through the crowds more?

The mosque itself is absolutely stunning, with incredibly detailed artwork and workmanship of extreme quality , we thought it was a beautiful experience.

My family joined a tour of the Grand Mosque. Our tour guide Mrs. Mubarak was wonderful and very knowledgeable. She was able to answer our questions and made our tour memorable.

It is the grandest mosque I have been to. It was busy but was still able to see and take amazing photos. We stumbled upon a free tour in which Obaid lead. He explained everything so well and made everyone laugh while keeping us well informed. Obaid made sure we all feel comfortable and no one was left behind. Amazing tour and would highly recommend. Best part was it was FREE!

We went as a family of 4 + 2 grandparents. Took an uber there which was easy enough. You walk through a shopping mall with loads of food outlets and clothing stores where you can pick up an abaya or headscarf as needed - we brought our own. We booked an access pass the night before for a scheduled time and it was free. It is a peaceful place and although at times you felt like herded cattle with lots of roped pathways to walk - there is plenty of time to appreciate where you are. The walk was actually not too bad and my nearly 70 year old parents could manage it. It does get warm, especially when you're in layers so go early if possible.

A masterpiece! Your visit to the UAE is incomplete without seeing the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. This architectural marvel showcases stunning Islamic design and craftsmanship.
You can always catch a free cultural tour on top of the hour. Our tour guide, Haytham, was THE ideal companion for a memorable tour experience. His youthful energy, dynamic personality, and excellent communication skills (especially in English) bring the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to life through engaging storytelling and interactive explanations. Let alone his sense of humor that adds a touch of light-heartedness to the tour, making it both informative and enjoyable for visitors. Highly recommend booking this tour with Haytham!

It was free entry into the mosque and we also got a free guided tour once inside. Ali, our guide was excellent and gave us great insight into the construction, architecture, the rooms, and interesting facts. We were two families including four children who were all impressed. The mosque has an underground shopping mall with food outlets which was a pleasant surprise for us. We managed to get an early dinner after our tour.

Without a doubt a must visit when in the city, and well worth travelling to if you’re staying elsewhere. The sheer scale is incredible and the ornateness impressive from the moment you first see the building. Having a guide explain the background and more intricate details is really valuable and also you should try visit during a less popular period, if you can, as the crowds can get massive. Certainly an experience which you’ll remember for a long time.
