Al Ghazal was the first 18 hole championship course in Abu Dhabi ad was host to the first professional tournament in the capital in 2005/06 when it hosted the World Sand Golf Championships. Today it is still renowned as the World's best sand course. The Par 71 layout measures over 6700 yards and is a unique and challenging venue for players of all abilities. The course itself plays similar to a Scottish Links with firm fairways and browns (greens). The natural desert fauna lines the fairways making accuracy paramount throughout. On the back nine, strategically placed water hazards are in play to bring an element of risk and reward into the closing stretch. After your round you can relax in Mulligans Bar and Restaurant which serves food and bevearges from around the world. The terrace areas outside provide stunning vistas of the course and give an excellent vantage point to watch the sunset over the city skyline.

Al Ghazal was my first experience of sand course, so the first round was tough, as it is so different from playing on grass. However, i thought that the course had a very nice layout, some challenging par 3's and the more I am playing...More

If you have never played a sand course this is a must. Remember the sand courses were the original golf courses in the desert or barren countries and most countries in the Gulf have at least one. If Al Ghazal were a grass course it...More

A fantastic venue to start playing golf or challenging your handicap! Started playing in April 2016 and must say thanks to good coaching & affordable rates I found a course I could play 2-4 times a week without having to take out a loan! Never...More

I have been a member of this sand golf club since January 2017. Great people, great location and a unique golfing experience. A real change from other "grass" venues in the area. It's one of the oldest courses in Abu Dhabi with an academy, and...More

I have been here to attend spartan race and it was amazing. The area is wow with lots of spaces you can around and play. I would come again to play golf with a desert flavor

Challenging and fun, Al Ghazal golf course gives a feel for the desert and a change from your big standard deluxe golf course. The menu is limited but of good quality at a reasonable price and the locals friendly.

Played here for the first time yesterday, had heard many positives about this style of golf. Very different and very challenging, great fun and I will be back to play again. It is a must try if you are in the area.

This sand course requires three-four elements a green course doesn't have. 1. Tee off of a sand tee and rake it smooth with a mason's trowel. 2. In the fairways... bring a 12 inch astroturf pad. 3. Keep your cart in the fairway, you will...More

No grass! This is golf but with a twist. Great fun to play in the desert. Use an astroturf mat if you hit the 'fairway' or play as it lies otherwise. The 'browns' take a ball well and actually allow decent putting. Good fun course....More
