Winery by the beach? You are thinking, is it really worth taking a day off from the beach to go inland and see the only winery in punta del este? The answer is YES!! Don't miss this place. Send a mail or call before you go and you'll be taken up to a beautiful mirador and led through an amazing... More

Our extended family visited Alto de la Bellena on vacation in January, 2016. Easy to say it was a highlight of our trip. Alvaro was a wonderful host and took time to cover all aspects of the winery from finding the land through the planting all the way to the process by which they blend each wine. The tasting was... I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this family-owned vineyard. The couple who owns it gave us a tour of the vineyard and conducted the tasting, which included an assortment of cheeses and crackers. They tasting room is on a porch atop a hill with beautiful views all around. The wines are all excellent- they specialize in red blends.

I did a private tour with Paula. Everything perfect. Very good wine! It takes just 30 min to arrive from Punta del Este. Beautiful place. Thank you Paula!

Located on the Sierra de La Ballena, or "The Mountains of the Whale" this young winery is wonderfully located, overviewing the huge "Sauce Lake". As many visitors reviewing the place, we also took Paula's tour and learned quite a bit about the process they've been through in the last 15 years and their achievements, as a winery. In fact, we... We made an appointment with Paola by email to visit the vineyard on a Saturday. Coming from Punta del Este, it takes about 30 minutes to reach the vineyard. The Ruta 12 exit from the Ruta Interbalnearia is well-marked but make sure you measure 16.4 km to reach the entry gate. We found the gate with the Alta de la... More

We did a private tour with one of the owners, Paula. It was great, we learned a ton and drank so much wonderful wine. I had found Tannat, Uruguay's regional wine a little acidic for my palate but they had some wonderful blends of it that I loved. Paula gave us a wonderful tour of her property in English, she... After visiting 10 wineries in Uruguay , Alta de la Ballena was one of my very favorite experiences. The view from the remote hilltop tasting room was stellar and all of the wines were delicious. The owners took us on a walking tour of their vines. Lovely lovely day!

My wife and I were very, very lucky to get a private tour and tasting with Paula on our recent visit to the Punta del Este region. . . . . Some of the (many) best parts: * Wonderful Host -- As noted in numerous previous reviews, Paula is a gem. A former investment banker from Montevideo, she and her... More
