Difficult to find. Once inside the Warnock Lake area, the road out to the Forest of Friendship was so bad (bumpy, potholes, ugly) that we turned around and went back. Nothing we saw was inviting at all and took a lot of effort to even find the place. Might be lovely later in year.

I am glad you tried to visit the Forest of Friendship and sorry you did not catch us looking our best. We encourage you to come back to visit us once the trees have leafed out later this spring, and see our new plantings of trees and flowers Using the 1 Allingham Dr. address is the best way to find... A nice trail with the names of historical aviators inlaid along the way. Tress from every state are represented. Also several international trees are on site. Several seating areas are available. This is a good venue for photograph. One should go several times a year to view the trees in every stage of life during a year. If one wants... More

I know I may be biased coming from this town, but even as a kid I loved going to the Forest of Friendship out at Warnock Lake. With 2 type of trails, one paved and the other in a selective cut wooded area on woodchips, this park area lets people enjoy anything from the walks, to fishing over at the... More

Outside of Atchison lies acres of walkways, beautiful trees and aviation honoree names engraved in stone, at the International Forest of Friendship. I enjoyed walking around and finding names from my home state, people who have accomplished much in the aviation field. It's a peaceful, serene place, perfect for strolling slowly to read names and identify trees planted for all... More

This nice, quiet place at the lake is lovely. Great paved walking trail and even an extra trail (gravel) through the woods. Many different trees from around the world. There are bricks in the path with aviators names on them in memoram. You can get your exercise and a history lesson at one time.

This is a beautiful park with a wonderful walkway that meanders thru the trees. Each tree is marked by the state or country where it originated. A great place to let the kids romp around.

Nothing is well-marked in the Forest of Friendship, but it is nice for a small walk and to see the "moon tree" and Amelia Earhart statue. It is quite a drive out of town; be advised.

This "forest" is adjacent to a public park/lake and nearby Amelia "earthworks". We walked up the paved path reading the embedded quotations, a nice touch, to the Amelia statue - a bit undersized for the expectations. The earthworks are very hard to make out even from the viewing stand provided; really need an overhead shot. Okay for a little outing.

I found the International Forest of Friendship by following the signs on the road. I was pleasantly surprised. What a beautiful place! I walked around this place and was mesmerized by how peaceful it was. There are hundreds of people's names along the path (tribute to astronauts & NASA people) and many labeled trees. It is worth a visit.

Tucked away in a corner of Warnock Lake unless you know its there, you would most likely miss it but that's part of why it's so great! This is a popular place for family photo's, weddings, and romantic dates!
