Already been to Duck island before, I was always intrigued with the long island at the back so upon arrival at the ship terminal, we booked a Hop-On Hop-Off ticket afro the Lyvai transport company to get to the taxi boat terminal at Anse Vata...More

Just a short drive by the shuttle boat, this atoll offers tranquillity and test just in front of the Bussy Noumea. One of the best spot for kite surfing. Escapade resort proposes beautiful and comfy bungalows on the island, or on the clear waters of...More

We visited L'Escapade Resort with Gateaway Tours (cruise ship stop) which was pre-booked online. The ferry took 25 minutes and we were on the island for about 3+ hours. We did some snorkelling near the over-water bungalows and saw a couple of turtles (mother and...More

Lovely place for snorkelling. Very Private and quiet Island. We took the bottom glass boat which is after the water taxi stand. It was CFP2500 p/p. You can rent snorkel gear for $5.

We caught the water taxi from Anse Vata (yes, you can get it from there, you don't have to go from Baie de Citrons, no matter what people say. However, we were a group of six so maybe that made a difference). The water was...More

Must go to if you like outdoor activities. We went for a day trip to snorkel and laze around and were not disappointed. While the ferry to get here was more expensive than the ferry to Ile aux Canards, the food, drinks and activities were...More

Took a cruise and one port was Noumea. Bike rentals were right at the visitor center where passengers were dropped off. There was a bike trail that provided access to all the best beaches.

All I can say is that you need to stay in an overwater bungalow for at least one night and watch the sunset. The pool also has a swim up bar, however you need to be aware of the liquor laws over there because it's...More

For a close-up encounter with sea turtles in their habitat, you need to visit this tiny island off Noumea. You can walk around it in 15 mins and at high tide some great snorkeling can be done in the warm, shallow waters.

You can simply be lazy on the beach and watch the kyte sufers, or go for a swim and snorkle around, maybe crossing the road of a turtle here and there

We are arriving at Noumea at 3pm on p & o cruise. How would you suggest we get to this island and how far is it from the port

I think most of the cruises have buses for transport around the area. Take the bus to Bay de Citron and a water taxi from there. The water taxi is 15 min from the port.
Hi I certainly will visit the lighthouse when in Noumea but I'd like to know how long to spend on the island to see it properly. I am visiting a relative but won't be returning and want to 'do it well' My cousin says 3 weeks. Any other advice. I want to see it all but don't tend to sit around relaxing much.

A day on the island is enough, particularly if you don't like sitting around doing nothing physical. We had a long lunch with drinks and a swim in the pool to sober up a bit. If you like eating, get into the buffet.
