Everything about our trip to the DRC, specifically Virunga National Park, was an incredible experience. We hiked for 6 days in the Rwenzori Mountains, spent a morning with gorillas, and spent two days hiking on a live volcano. Each of these activities was within Virunga. All of the park guides we met and toured with were professional and kind. The... More

We booked our trip to DRC and were slightly apprehensive due to the security concerns that were reported. However, on arrival we found a very well organised team who immediately put our concerns at ease. Most of the time we were accompanied by an armed ranger, which again was reassuring. We booked to trek to see the mountain gorillas. We... More

Going tracking gorillas in the Virunga National Park is an amazing experience. The guides are amazing, understanding, and give good explanations about the gorillas' lifestyle. They know them by heart, it is as if they are talking about their closest friends :). On the downside, the organization itself is VERY disappointing. The employees at the headquarters, as well as the... More

We had a great experience at Virunga park. We felt very safe and taken care of throughout our trips to see the gorillas and trekking Mt. Nyiragongo. What a beautiful country!

I visited the national parc from the Congolese side and stayed at the Mikeno Lodge in Rumangabo. Depending on the security situation and weather conditions you will be able to do different things in the parc. We hiked for a few hours through the lush rainforest into the mountains to see the famous and endangered mountain gorillas. It was an... More

This park is accessible through Uganda, which was our trip but BE PREPARED! You need visas for rwanda (TWICE) and for the congo, if you cant buy visas at the border you need them 3 weeks in advanced, and also when you come back through to Rwanda you have to pay to enter AGAIN and with another visa (its $30... We visited Virunga National Park in January 2012 testing out the overland access from Kisoro in Uganda. And our 4 day tour accross the border went so smooth! The booking and payment for "everything" (DRC visa, transport, accomodation, vulcano-overnight trip, gorillas...) can be done at the park's website http://www.visitvirunga.org/. And the national park take well care of the security of... More
