Lots of interesting places to visit! Get out early to enjoy the sunrise and bring an umbrella to avoid getting cooked in the sun!:p

We booked a boat from some guy that stopped us on the road while walinkg around in Nyaung Shwe. We paid 20000 kyats for a day tour. All tours include visits to silver factory, weaving factory, cigar factory, floating market, floating gardens and jumping cats monastery. When booking the tour, we also chose to go to In Dein temple, and... More

There are several puzzling negative comments about Inle Lake. Ignore them. We saw very few tourists during our stay on the lake. The majority of the lake traffic are all local boats transporting villagers and goods between the many communities. Travelling on these long narrow fast boats is wonderful and exciting. All the boats have single cylinder Diesel engines that... More

All that has been written is true. A must see. If have only one, but full day, ok. Better to enjoy give your self two full days, on the lake. The city near by is not interesting; if want medium to low cost hotel staying in city fine, but otherwise try to find resort on the lake. Like Inle Resort.... More

Best experience ever to ride a boat there. The lake, the air, the view and best of all, locals who row using their legs. It is amazing that they still keep this culture.

The main point of interest to me is that this culture seems to be intact although most of the houses on stilts have sat disks. Fishermen are more a curosity because their catch seems meagre. Food is preserved by drying, salting or fermenting. Frying makes rice durable crackers. Handicrafts are not cheap especially where you can see how they make... More

This was a day like no other. 7 hrs in a long locally made boat (exceptionally good workmanship) to see something quite amazing. The lake is quite full in parts of water weeds including lotus. The people pile up the weed into floating pula which begin to rot and form a sort of humus into which they plant small crops.... More

Spent a day on a long boat travelling around Inle Lake and it was without doubt the best day of the trip to Myanmar. Great value trip and so many interesting things to see and do. This is THE thing to do in the country.

We really wanted to visit Inle Lake and managed to time our visit to coincide with the festival where four Buddha images from Phaung-daw-oo Pagoda are transferred around the lake on a barge towed by at least 20 - I lost count - boats being rowed in the traditional method the fishermen use - standing up and using a leg...
