This park has lovely big open spaces and there was a photo exhibition on when we were there. We were pestered a bit by girls selling postcards--my husband is a photographer and they didn't seem to take the hint that he could take the same photos. There are public toilets at one side which proved very useful at times. Central... More

On a weekend, this place will be teeming with locals. Some of them may try to initiate a conversation with you, only to find out that they're just spinning a story to sell you their boat tours. Don't fall for it. Take some time to look at the independence monument and the food stalls set up just outside the park.... More

It was located just across the busy main road from Sule Pagoda. After I had visited the pagoda, I just crossed the road to this park. At one corner of the park, I noticed the sharp tall pointed roof of the Immanuel Baptist Church. The architectural outlook looks unique and I understand it was originally built in 1885 but destroyed... More

It was so lovely to just lie down on the grass and watch the people do the same. It's a nice way to watch the Burmese and and at this moment enjoy the photo festival. Lot's of people come here in the morning to workout, do guided meditation or yoga-ish things. The afternoon is well spend on the grass in... More

Was just walking around the area in the morning, and the park was filled with local couples dating, people sitting around chatting, kids playing at the playground. Definitely a nice place to people watch and see how the locals spend a weekend morning. Also the park is surrounded by many attractions so it's a central place to start exploring!

The gardens are very central and good for getting away from the bustle and traffic. They are really well maintained and very popular with locals and tourists. Not exactly a quiet oasis as you can still hear some traffic noise and it is fairly busy but still a good place to take a breather

Nice friendly square. Kind of centre of town. Nice buildings around but must under restoration. Nice setting with umbrellas.

It's beautiful and nice place to chill alone or with your friends in the evening but the park is closed after 6 PM, sometimes 6:30 PM.
