I recommend you go here before 10am because that's when the busses of foreign tourists arrive. It's an ornate and impressive Buddha. Some great pictures available. Not so close to town centre maybe 20 mins. No shoes or socks. Free entry. Suggest 1 hour maximum

If your time in Yangon is limited do not waste it there. Huge never meant beautiful. I still do not understand why lot of visitors are impressed.

Huge Buddha! Lovely place. You’ll hear the worshipers singing hymns if you’re lucky... Beautiful. Clean and tidy... Peaceful and elegant.

Worth to visit this temple and learn about the history of buddha. There are also a lot of display of small buddhas in sifferent gestures. I think that is unique. Location wise, it is 10 minutes away from Shwedagon Pagoda ( by car)

Really did not like this place. The Buddha has his/her finger nails and toe nails painted red. Guess I'm not really used to seeing Buddha decorated like this.

It is a shame that the image is partly blocked by the surrounding building structure. There are much better images of this type in Thailand.

There is a long row of Buddha mudras with explanation of each, unfortunately only in local language. Nevertheless a sight to behold and appreciate.

The place is a bit far from downtown, but interesting to see. The Buddha is huge. Go early. The building is outraged and disturbs the views of the Buddha. At the feet of the Buddha you find a platform that allows you to make nice...More

A relatively modern (1960s) reclining Buddha, well executed and with reasonable frescos on the surrounding walls.

Chauk Htat Gyi Monastery houses an impressive 72 meter long reclining Buddha that was well worth a half hour stop. The Buddha is kept under a structure so it was a comfortable visit during the day when temperature was in the mid-30’s. The surrounding was...More

I would say the visit needs 1 hour at most. It is a small place and it really depends on how much time you will take for photos and looking around. We had a guide for the day but it takes around 20-30 minutes from down town... More
