Great walk!

I recommend this visit, beautiful view, great walk! Midway up is a lovely restaurant to stop for a cup of tea. It's so much nicer to walk up than yo take the tram

Visiting the ancient Narikala Fortress and the Mother of Georgia (Kartlis Deda) on the holy mountain of Mtatsminda should be high on your list of sights to see when visiting Tbilisi. Towering imposingly above the old city center the fortress offers beautiful panoramic views over Tbilisi. The fortress was built in the 4th century A.D. Amidst its ruins stands St.... More

Narikala is definitely worth stopping by - we walked over from Mtsaminda but you can also walk up from town or get the cable car from the other side of the river. The views are great and the fortress nice to walk around, although there are no signs or explanations of what you're seeing (it looks as though they're in... More

Being the highest point of the old city, there are some panoramic views to take in the moment you walk up to the fortress. The entire area is larger than it looks from the old city, and people generally can walk wherever they feel like, including going past loose and broken rock onto several structures that are clearly not very... You can get there by lift car (very chip) or by walk. the view is magnificent. Come down by walking through the ancient town. You can also enter from there the botanical garden. Very beautiful with the waterfall.

best thing about the Citadel is that it's the highest point in the old city and view from there is just amazing and of course everyone who enters the Fortress must visit church of Saint Nicholas.

After a short hike up from old town, or a short walk down from the aerial tram, you'll find the entrance to Narikala Fortress. It is interesting to explore, and take in the views of Tbilisi from its old walls.

This is a cool place, with lots of great views. There is a newer church as well, but it is worth a visit up to it.
