Really some place special. The Hanging church and the Coptic Museum are wonderful, but after these you walk down the street, and go down some stairs, and then you are in another era. Winding streets, old churches, the Ben Ezra synagogue, so much to see....More

This is an historic part of Cairo, which is easily accessed by the metro. It is one of the main attractions that I would recommend visiting in Cairo.

We went here with our tour with Viator. It was nice to see the older area and to hear the history that went with it. Nice to hear the history from a guide and now t every place was easy to find without them.

The Coptic Church contains a history of its own, many old artworks, as well as a culture that is very ancient. We were unaware of this portion of Egyptian history until our tour guide introduced us to it. It is amazing!

The old city is alive and buzzing. You need a guide to tell you the stories about the buildings. Its crowded and has a lot to see including local dancing. This is a must

I saw your response to my description of Old Cairo. I think what you wrote is fair. If someone is interested in seeing old churches and understanding something of the history of Christian Egypt than Old Cairo is an excellent place to go to but if the interest for this is not there one should not go but that applies to all locations one visits, religious or non-religious. Wishing you all the best.
