We enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to see the step pyramid but we preferred the Giza pyramids. If it's included in your care package, by all means go and enjoy.

I combined this visit with Dahshur. Together they illustrate very well the evolution of pyramid construction and it's a visit away from the beaten too full of tourists track!

A wonderful experience with a guide awaits you in all of the Saqqara site. The Step Pyramid of Djoser is nearly 5000 years old and interesting design. Visit the Pyramid of Teti descending down to see the burial chamber, sarcophagus star filled ceilings and more....More

Reported to be the original pyramid, also known as the step pyramid this is well worth a visit away from those of Giza. Amazing to see where it was built and learn how it remained hidden for so long

This is the oldest pyramid in Egypt, older than that of Giza pyramids. Not far from Cairo city. You can take a camel or a car to this place.

This is a fabulous site, very large jubilee area as well as the step pyramid. You can see the work of the famous architect Imhotep. The site is nicely restored in some parts, offering a good contrast to the unrestored buildings

We first visited the Step Pyramid 27 years ago and whilst it was always impressive for so ancient a structure, extensive work has greatly improved the quality of experience for tourists now. The whole site has been improved and some of the wall depictions within...More

They are close enough so that you can do both on the same day, but the street market and museum would be more interesting than Sakkara. Sakkara has the oldest pyramid but currently it is being repaired. You could... More
