The step design is the ancestor for the following pyramids. Drive from Giza takes about an hour but this pyramid is a must see

We contracted a tour guide who took us to Giza, Memphis & Saqqara in the same day!. Saqqara Pyramids are less visited than Giza Pyramids but they are fantastic also. I recommend visiting bot during the same day as early as possible to avoid heat!.

You can´t go into the step Pyramid of Djoser but you can see a lot of interesting tombs, paintings , pyramids etc around Sakkara. Don´t miss this when watching the Pyramids in Gaza .

This is a whole site that consists of more than just a couple of pyramids. There are far fewer touts than Giza but there are still one or two. I preferred the remoteness of the location to suburban Giza and would recommend it strongly on...More

Sakkhara has been dismanteled, and there is not much to see for public. Many items from here are in the Egyptian museum. You get to enter in a small pyramid (not the step one), wich is pretty nice, and a small temle. The heat makes...More

We visited Saqqara pyramids after we went to the pyramids in Giza, they are very different from each other. We went into the pyramid here and were able to see the writings in the pyramids.

As the oldest of the pyramids this is worth the time to visit. Not the most impressive of sites but it's undergoing major restoration so should improve.

If you are going to visit Egypt, please don't turn down this tour to visit the Sakkara Pyramid. This is one of the places that tourists don't usually go, so you have the place all by yourself. Said that, take your time, contemplate the area...More

We only have one day in Cairo on a stopover from Mumbai back to Toronto. One guide includes Sakkara in their offering, the other did not, only Giza. Are the two close enough that one can see both within a reasonable time, or are we trying to do too much...there are several other sites we want to visit in Cairo too. Any thoughts about other must-sees on a day in Cairo? Thanks!

They are close enough so that you can do both on the same day, but the street market and museum would be more interesting than Sakkara. Sakkara has the oldest pyramid but currently it is being repaired. You could... More
