inside the monastery complex is the Church of St. Sergius and St. Bacchus where Joseph and Mary hid in the tomb to evade detection by the Romans. Definitely worth a visit.

First of all: it's a Greek Orthodox Monastery not a Coptic Church. It's Heaven on Earth.. So Ancient.. The best place where you find inner peace and feel god.

I walked in from the downtown area of Ciaro, its hike sure but worth it,you follow the Nile, jump a road or two,try google maps, then you pass the oldest Islamic site then your there, along the way people greet you with genuine affection, once inside its a delight.

One of the most interesting Coptic Churches to visit and you will vit a holy sites where Jesus Christ together with Holy Family stayed during their visit to Egypt, visit to Mari Girges Church is comparable to visit to Juraseluim.

This is not a crucial stop on a Cairo visit. If you divide your priorities into must, should and could, this is a could. It's architecture is arresting, but this is not a must see.
