The quite unfrequented site at Dahshur is dominated by a pyramid so large that a photograph from the parking lot had to be so wide-angle as to distort its shape completely. You can, by paying small tips along the way, climb up into and then down into the pyramid. The crouchéd journey is somewhat arduous, and the walls are featureless.... More

We visited Dashur with our tour guide and learned that the building of this oldest pyramid went wrong (as you can see) and was never used as burrial place. I recommend visiting Djoser pyramid, Memphis museum and old sakkara during the same daytrip south of Cairo. These visits combined make it worth to mahe the drive which also gives a... More

So amazing to see the Dahshur pyramids - so much nice than giza which is full of thousands of people. Turn up at 8am and you'll have the place to yourself!

Just can't believe that these places exist after all these years. It was fairly quiet when we visited. Don't forget your bottle of water...

Could not do it. The climb upto the entrance was hard enough. Apparently there is a strong noxious smell at the empty crypt. Hoever, the view of the surrounding area from the entrance was great.

Dashur was a great place to see some of the earlier pyramids. There are a variety of prototype pyramids that kind of show the progression of how they are made, from mastabas up to a pretty near perfect pyramid. I liked that I could go inside one without paying extra. They may be smaller than the pyramids at giza, but... More

A trip to the bent pyramid can only be done with a 4WD, so if you visit Dahschur, be aware that you probably only can visit the red pyramid. The red pyramid itself is worth a visit though and especially now there are not many tourists.

The Pyramids at Dhashur are one of the most underrated sites I have ever visited especially considering its got two of the most unique Pyramids ever build. During my 1 hr visit only two more tourists turned up at the site. These sites have the Bent Pyramids and the Red Pyramids (also called Northern Pyramids). These are considered the first... More
