Mohamed Ali Mosque is also known as the Alabaster Mosque and is situated in the Citadel of Salah al-Din. You will need to take off your shoes or buy shoe covers for 5 EGP before entering the interior of the mosque. It’s quite spacious inside and the floor is carpeted. Do look up to see the artwork on the domed... More

Huge place, so much beautiful, nicely made, you well be mesmerized with such gorgeous art in the place, aside from the main mosque/citadel. There are a couple of museums and palaces takes you back in time to the Royal glory era. No parking lot the, best to take cab

Visited on a sunny day in December. The views from the grounds out across the city are fantastic and you can even pick out the pyramids. The mosque itself is stunning both inside and out. There is so much to see and a local guide can explain everything to you for just a few pounds. There is also the military... More

During our 12 day stay, we did Islamic Ciro and the Citadel, this was amazing, great views and superb architecture. Amazing how they structured this and it feel so spiritual at the same time. Allow a good 2 hours to walk around and take it all in! The history behind it is fascinating too, nice day out!

The main attraction here is the extraordinary building itself and the history of Saladin's conquests. It also affords great views of Cairo. It's well worth the stop.

The building itself is beautiful, and has a stunning view over Cairo. However, the lady at the entrance was quite rude. As a female, I was prepared with a scarf to put over my hair, but she still did not let me in because of my (not even tight) jeans. This has not been a problem in any other mosque... More
