I recently visited the Papyrus Institute with my parents. We bought two pieces, the smaller included for free with the larger. We watched both be wrapped individually but when we got home the smaller tube was empty. When challenged the director offered to send it to us as it was an 'unintentional error'. This makes little sense, we watched them... More

We throughly enjoyed the free welcome drinks and demonstration on how papyrus is made. The assistant was knowledgable and friendly. He showcased the art available for sale, and was easy going and happy to help us and/or just let us browse. I was thrilled with my purchase (best souvenoir of our whole trip) and my girls love their custom papyrus... More

We booked our Cairo tours through EMO Tours Egypt and we are very happy with them. Excellent service and very knowledgeable guide. After visiting the pyramids, our guide took us to a papyrus museum. To be fair to him, I asked what is worth buying in Egypt and he said three things, Egyptian cotton, essential oils and papyrus, offered to... More

Tour guide brought us to this papyrus institute. I decided not to buy anything even before entering but ended up buying a papyrus about my arm's length size. The guy was really good at explaining how papyrus was made and we had good time asking questions and wanted to buy a papyrus painting of the judgement day. He said initially... More

Our tour, YourEgyptTours.com, took us there. A very slick, professional young woman demonstrated about papyrus. The sales pitch was strong. My friend could not say no. He bought US$400 worth. Two days later he regretted it. Our guide said he could have his money back. He went back, but ended up spending US$500 total, more than originally. I walked around... More

I am stressing on this in every review I write about any place in Cairo: "Cairo is intimidating, if you are not being escorted with someone that will guide you how to deal with people, you will definitely get rubbed in some way or another" This place is a nice place to visit and get some education, but like all... It is interesting to see how Papyrus is made but the demonstration lasts all 5 minutes, followed by trying to get you to spend thousands on large pieces. We bought a small piece that we liked after a price drop, but don't be bullied into making a large purchase if you don't want to.

We had a great demonstration on how the papyrus was made. Truly amazing pieces to buy. 50,000 Egyptian pounds to as low as 120 Large and small items. They have a transport tube to place them in for transport. No hard sell. Very helpful, and respectful people to help you out

We came here with our tour guide. There was a short and sweet demonstration on the production of papyrus and then some time to shop. The place has some truly beautiful, high quality art, and we did end up buying a small piece. The guys here were helpful in choosing the size, colors, and design we were looking for. As... More

Like everywhere we went in Egypt this is all about the hard sell and trying to get you to part with cash. Yes you get a demonstration on how papyrus is made, but everything else is designed to get you to buy something. As a further word of warning if you are using a card beware because they will attempt... More
