Known as the smallest mosque in historical Cairo, Al-Aqmar mosque facade is a perfect example of classical islamic architecture. On the other hand, the interior of the mosque isn't as amazing as it's exterior but it's worth a look. Should pass by if in Muizz area

This mosque was built by imam Amir (ra) in cairo. The facade is a masterpiece. It depicts many fatemid aspects. Every detail has an importance pages and pages long. The Imam had a message behind building this mosque. One needs to carefully look at each detail to understand the art. The facade had been partly destroyed over the yrs. It... More

The decorated facade of this mosque marks a new development in the architectural history of Cairo's mosques, and it is also one of the few of its kind, dating from the Fatimid period.
