One of the few obelisks left in Egypt. Two are here at Karnak temple and the best preserved is Thut 1st. Great location and great for pictures!

Get out of the hotel and visit the second and largest of the two Obelisks as stated was of Queen Hatshepsut herself also of the18th Dynasty. This was an amazing engineering feat and is beautifully carved. It once would have a gold or electrum cap reflecting the sun.

Though not as tall as Queen Hatshepsut's obelisk, this comes close. Cool to see in person; nearby there is a similar size obelisk on it's side so you can see face-to-face the size at the peak.

Truly amazing how this enormous piece was put in place thousands of years ago just by man power,shipped as one piece down the Nile from Aswan and carved,so impressive to see

stunning pieces that you will see once in karnak temple, how on earth were these shipped as one piece down the nile from aswan and carved as they are today is just mindblowing, nothing done like this today will ever be standing in 4000 yrs time, so impressive to see. take lots of water !!!!!!!!
