After a visit to Fort Jesus, make sure you go here. But take a guide, and he will show you around the old town. Beautiful old Arabian buildings and architecture, markets are all there. Easily spend a couple of hours here.

The Old Town of Mombasa is a Area to see. Take a tour guide with you, he/she will tell you more than you can see and find by yourself. From narrow streets, ancient mosques to old remaining buildings. Different cultural doors (Arabic, Indien) who are very beautiful. See also the fish, meat, chicken, herbs and fresh food market. A memory... More

The guide was expensive and unprofessional. The place though beautiful, it was overrun by idle youth who were smoking bhang. The restaurants were pricy.

Tiny back streets very easy to get lost but loads of bargains and history. would not advise going into the old town without a trusted local guide.

walking through the old town of mombasa was quite interesting, but not that great. most buildings are totally run down and streets are littered. young children were playing football in the streets and elderly people warned me not to walk around without a guide.

Old town is probably the nicest area in Mombasa. Beautiful old houses with typical Lamunian doors, narrow streets, very historic.
