Don't get me wrong The Pearl Market offers souvenirs and mementos by the bucket full but, no longer can a true treasure be found. Even the new souvenirs lack the quality of four years ago. For my party of English 15 yr old students immense fun was had. Many presents bought and bargaining powers increased. Even the shy ones found... More

Across the road from Tiantan Park, this is a busy bazaar that sells anything from pearls, suitcases, souvenirs to clothes and electronics. There is a food court at the lower basement with many stalls selling a variety of great tasting Chinese food. The toilets here are also clean.

There are actually two buildings that are now called Pearl Market. The one facing the main road sells many many things. Electronics, clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, tea, you name it, they've got it. I was looking for a sport jersey and found it on the second floor. The other building is right behind the old building. There are a lot... More

Lived in Beijing for 8 years and probably went at least once a month to HongQiao (pronounce "Hong Chow" will work) aka Hong Qiao Pearl Market. Often, had nothing to buy but it was just fun to people watch, visit a few vendors and get a coffee at Starbucks. It seems the vendors are less intrusive than the ones at... More

If you need and/or want some China or Beijing souvenirs, this is the spot to do it. We paid triple the price at the Great Wall and were sorely disappointed when we saw the same magnets at the Market. It's also obviously a great spot for pearls and there are very affordable options all the way up to the "completely... More

The market may have once been a good place for tourists to make a good bargain .... in particular rumor has it that many people went there for 'replica goods'. These days are gone. If you are interested in pearls (which you find in the upper floors), probably you can combine the market with a visit to the temple of... More

If you want to buy real pearls and don't want to bargain, there is a great place inside the Hongqiao Market, on the third floor (if my memory doesn't fail me) on the 50th spot. The guy who runs the place is excellent, and he speaks a fine english.

We had just one day in Beijing and our driver brought us here to shop. We bought candy to bring home for the kids, some Converse, a North Face type jacket for our granddaughter, some leather belts and my husband bought some scopes for his guns. You can cut at least half off what the original price is, and mostly... More

You have to be wary buying electrical gear, but the clothing, jewellery - fake and real - has some good bargains, just be choosy.
