I've been to Mutianyu a couple of times in the past few years. Once traveling w friends and once on business. I would hands down recommend you going here instead of the much more popular location of the Great Wall at Badaling. I think the main reason Badaling get way more foot traffic is that it takes less time to... More

We loved it! Although it was snowing and freezing, it was so great seeing the wall with snow. We caught the ski lift up as the cable cars weren't working, neither was the toboggan. The Great Wall is everything you expect and more. Our guide dropped us off and we caught the shuttle to the cable car. Good fun

If you want to have a great view and want to jump into ancient Chinese history I strongly recommend the part of the Great Wall at Mutianyu. If you are a family you will find nice options to entertain your kids by using the cable car or the toboggan run.

This is our go to place for guests visiting China. Easy access and few visitors, gondolas and slide down. As well as many western conveniences and restaurants at the visitor center. You can save money and walk up and down if you have the time physical ability. Of all the wall tourist sites this has had the least crowds. At... More

There really is no way to describe the Great Wall! It is massive, beautiful and can be overwhelming. The history of the wall is incredible. If you plan to hike some of the wall wear walking shoes and stay hydrated. This is a one of kind piece of Chinese history. Loved it!

Very touristy as expected, but we were lucky as the wall wasn't very crowded that day. This section is well preserved and has relatively easy access. The tourist stalls are easily avoided but do provide options for a meal before or after your visit. There are some very nice vistas from this section. Recommended.

You can walk as much or as little on the wall as you like. There is a cable car up and down but is a bit of a healthy walk to the cable car. Great inexpensive souvenirs upon exiting- make sure you bargain.

Not very busy and easy entrance. took the cable car up to the 6th gate. If not in very good shape, could be difficult to walk up to the cable cars. Some people had complained in our group but I found it quite nice.
