This place was filled with a lot of people that came from other countries. Very crowed and hot, but it was worth it. The place was amazing with the history. Highly recommend to get a tour guide, since the locals doesn't speak english to ask...More

We were part of a Trip a Deal tour, and this was part of our itinerary. Glad it was. So much history to soak up' The best move I made was to hire a wheelchair for my wife, as they told us her scooter would...More

Unbelievable place, huge area with so much history. Lots of visitors but its so large it can appear empty at times. We entered maybe 10am and it was comfortably attended. Cannot help but imagine how it was with Emperors and their staff.

A very interesting part of Beijing, Another 'Must see' in Beijing. The picture over the gate reminds about different part of history

Liked the name, even though it reeks a bit of cemetery monikers. Just one of several methods of entry into the Forbidden city.

Another 'Must see' in Beijing. The picture over the gate reminds about different part of history rather than imperial times and brings very characteristic atmosphere of the Tian'an Men (for me - similar to Moscow's Red Sq).

We had seen the famous Gate to the Heavenly Palace on TV and the internet but not until we walked through Tiananmen Square and approached the gates did we quite realize how large the entire area and structures were. The best example is the portrait...More

Given the history, it was a little eerie visiting Tian'anmen square. It is usually very crowded and keep in mind if you want to see Mao you cannot have any backpacks or purses. If a traveler does not walk well, you can hire a gentleman...More

The gate of heavenly peace offers access to the forbidden city. It is a huge complex so take your time and a guide or book to explain what you see ENJOY

This is a place nobody should visit due to it's bad recent history. It's something Chinese kids are not taught at school. Similar to Nazi Germany history in early 1940's but took place over a couple of days.
