This is the official entrance into the Forbidden City and enter with a ticket ,to purchase a ticket go to the left hand side of the gate into the little booth

Evidently this was the base for the China Meridian by one of the emperors and hence the name. I couldn’t find any i formation about that but it is an interesting entrance anyway.
