A 12 lane road in center Beijing. Going from west to east . Getting to the Tiananmen Square and the gate to the forbidden city , many governmental buildings .

I suspect many higher ratings are due to the fact that it is the street where the famous Mao photo is and it is the street connected to Tiananmen, but ultimately it is a street which is pleasant to walk down, but in of itself...More

This in itself isn't an attraction. This is a street that can access both Tienanmen Square and the Forbidden City.

This street is ridiculously wide- 12 lanes, and during the day it's full of cars! Worth having a look while you are on your way to see the Forbidden City and Tianmen square.

Visited this area in mid May 2015. It is a fantastic inexpensive area to spend a couple of hours taki ng in the site, the people and the hustle and bustle of Beijing. Well worth a look.

A gigantic road structure cutting the historical city entirely in half, partly at the place of the old city wall, destroyed in the '50s. Nothing to see, really.
