While maybe not everyone's interest, the People's Assembly Hall is a famous historical landmark for local Chongqing residents. The interior under the great dome is completely open space where the seating and stage is located. Pillars around the outside hold the extire complex up and looking up at the dome is an inspiring sight to view from the inside.

This is huge theatre for hug population in China. Wish to have a change to watch a play or movies in interesting layout. It is kind of Giant Cinema.

The Chongqing Peoples Assembly Hall seams to have many, albeit similar, names which is a little confusing, these also include Chongqing peoples Hall amongst others. The building was completed in 1955 and features both Ming and Qing dynasty architectural designs. It is situated on Renmin Road in the Yuzhong district of downtown Chongqing and is located on the eastern side... More

It has a great view of the people's square. Great for people who loves Chinese History. Coming here once is enough.

An impressive building and the landmark of Chongqing in many respects. Excellent for external photos but not much inside.

With a stunning outside this place is a must see in Chongqing. Cheap entry ticket inside was a little disappointing to see the massive theatre inside; thr architecture outside is not repeated within.

Both the interior and the exterior are a sight to behold and knowing this was built shortly after the Communist takeover of China, when China was in relative disarray, the accomplishment of building something so magnificent is all the more remarkable.

Based on other reviews, I didn't pay the 10 RMB to go inside, but the exterior of this building and the surrounding area make a lovely place to have a stroll and as a backdrop for photos. If I had come here only to see this, it would be rated much lower, but as an adjunct to the Three Gorges... More

It was a lovely surprise to visit this place on our way to our Yangtze River cruise. It was part of our itinerary in Chongqing . The buildings are typical of old Chinese architecture which is very charming and unique. Loved it a definite must when in town.

Just a big building in traditional (or retro) style. Nothing to see inside really. Just seats, and more seats.
