Stanley is very different to other parts of Hong Kong, or completely different from what you think about Hong Kong. Stanley, located at the southern of Hong Kong island, is much more relaxed with beaches, hills and coves. You will find the western atmosphere in this small Chinese town.

I love this place, tea and lemon drizzle cake at the cafe overlooking the bay, a wander around the market, I always visit Stanley, taxis are cheap out of central, no more than a tenner, it's not worth taking the bus.

Great to visit, Stanley Fort is where the British Garrison was and especially the front overlooking the harbour has a very British feel about it. A must is to visit the Commonwealth War Graves site in Stanley, it on a steep sided mound with some lovely views.

We got the express bus from Central that winds its way around the coast. If you want the best view go up the bus but be warned going around the tight corners is a little hair-raising. Bus is the only real way to get there unless you want to drive or get a taxi. Note - there are standard buses... More

I jumped a mini bus from Causeway Bay, cost was peanuts, worth the trip just for the scenery on the way there. Good fun in the market, no pressure to buy but I did. Nice to sit on the front overlooking the bay. Caught Public bus back to Central. Easy peasey.

We took the 973 Bus from Tsim Sha Tsui to Stanley Market. The ride was about an hour but you can see a lot of Hong Kong on this ride. The bus passed by Repulse Bay, Aberdeen, Discovery Bay, etc. You will find Stanley market line with shops (don't forget to haggle), restaurants looking out to the ocean and much... More

Just a lovely place to chill and relax. During daytime, it's good to enjoy beautiful nature and walk around Stanley market which has many small shops and street stalls. It's also worth visiting some historical buildings at Stanley, such as Tin Hau Temple, one of the oldest temples in Hong Kong; and Murray House, a Victorian-era building. At night, it's... More

We used Big Bus Tours to get around. Stanley was on the route so we hopped off havIng never been there before. It is a very pleasant village with a nice walk along the water. There is a wonderful market with a wide range of goods for sale. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here in spite if the torrential rain.

If you are staying in Kowloon then it takes time to get to Stanley market which is on Hong Kong Island but its well worth a visit to this busy market which is normally full of tourists..you can find most things there so if you have the time its worth a visit...
