Stanley is very different to other parts of Hong Kong, or completely different from what you think about Hong Kong. Stanley, located at the southern of Hong Kong island, is much more relaxed with beaches, hills and coves. You will find the western atmosphere in this small Chinese town.

Want to go shopping? Stanley is the place. Lots to shop for, but don't forget to bargain with the vendor. European style sidewalk cafes. Easy to get there from Central on bus 6 or 6X. Bit of a long bus ride, but very scenic.

The drive to Stanley market has always been a great bus ride. It was as enjoyable 20 years ago, as it was today as well. We took bus no. 6 from the Central bus depot. There are quite a few buses that leave regularly on...More

The city center of Hongkong is fast-paced, frenetic and people-dense. Want something sedate, calming, laid-back and nature-filled? Stanley! From a long-time resident`s suggestion to try this out, I took the hour-long ride on bus no 66 (Queensway, in front of Admiralty MTR station) before alighting...More

I took bus 40 from Causeway Bay and it was quick. The bus was in the tunnel and cruising the green hills in 5 minutes. Stanley has a serene beach. Wish I had packed a bathing suit as I arrived at hot noon in June...More

There are different types of restaurants, big and small.. to refresh oneself from the high towers, it is breezy, on the water.

I travelled by cab as I didn’t want to spend an hour on a bus. It was $125 & about 20 minutes, which was great value as it included the tunnel toll. The cab dropped me right by the market (also near the return cab...More

We decided to head to Stanley to see the beach markets and soak up the atmosphere. It ended up being an easy trip, taking the MTR to the end of the island line and then getting a bus from the station to Stanley. The road...More

When updating businesses and homes, many chose to keep the original exterior true to its history. Accessible by bus or taxi from Hong Kong. Market has discount "best quality copy" type products reasonably priced, given the proximity of Hong Kong. Restaurants run the entire range...More

If you really need to get away from the crowds and high rises this will do it, but it didn't rate very highly with us, and if you have only a few days in HK I would not recommend it. The market was just OK,...More

When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies
with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The
area widely known as Central is the major financial
hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up
to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open
late into the night and there just happens to be a
street party every weekend. Although everything seems
to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of

No, in Stanley and Stanley Market you won't really find fashion vintage second end or high end clothing stops. The clothing shops in Stanley Market offer cheap and often not that well produced clothing. We only go there to... More
