An authentic sampan tour of the renowned floating village of Aberdeen provides a first hand view of Hong Kong's severe income disparity, and a memorable experience. Although still a working fishing village it has been engulfed by commercial towers and factories. Piloted by elderly folks...More

It was cool to get in a sampan, but there was a lot of exhaust fumes. The Jumbo restaurant is a main attraction as well as the fishing village. There were a few high end yachts mooring right next boats that looked like thet were...More

Had heard so much about must do Sampan ride in Hongkong that even though we saw the old boats taking people on an unimpressive ride, we decided to give it a try. Bought tickets from the Aberdeen promenade and hopped on one if the Sampan...More

This fishing village comprises a higgly-piggly jumble of floating house-boats and fishing vessels. It is fascinating to watch the people on board living out their lives and earning their livelihoods. Should be a must for first-time visitors.

One of the stops on the Green Line Big Bus Tour is Aberdeen (We visited in April 2017). Hop off the bus and take the Sampan ride. You can catch the next Green Line bus and continue on your tour. Just seeing the colorfully decorated...More

The sampan tours take you on a leisurely meandering ride around and through the fishing fleet at the harbour. It is where the new meets the old. The old building are surrounded by super fancy new hi rises.

Took a half hour sampan ride around the harbour after being badgered by a hard-sell woman. Must say that she did us a favour. Interesting to see the complete variation of lifestyles on the water.

I took a free return Sampan ride to the Jumbo restaurant or you could pay public transport fees, which is also a sampan ride, for HK$2+ . Private Sampan ride, for me, it wasn't necessary.
