Worth the climb!

Awesome is a much used adjective but in this case it fits perfectly. The climb, many steps, was challenging for me, (56yrs reasonably fit but not used to inclines). The views are... read more

Awesome is a much used adjective but in this case it fits perfectly. The climb, many steps, was challenging for me, (56yrs reasonably fit but not used to inclines). The views are 360degrees over Hong Kong and, if you have a clear day truly are awesome. The day we climbed the wind was strong, and at moments you felt you'd... More

I went up there from the stairs side, quite easy and at the top the view is nice. Although the sky isn't quite clear recently, it's recommended to go this trail if you want to enjoy a nice view without much effort.

This place is a gem amidst the maddening crowd of HK, and I'd probably start to consider serious hiking in HK in the future because of this peak. It was an accidental "trekking" while the group made it up to the Peak at about 4pm. We were encouraged by a local friend to try the "trek", which takes about 30min... More

The High West is accessible with a 20-minute climb along the Treacherous Trail next to High West Picnic Area, junction of Hatton, Lugard and Harlech Roads. It embraces the view of Western Hong Kong and Kowloon, Tsing Yi, Lamma, Cheung Chau etc., one that is even broader than that of The Peak, and it's totally free of charge. To go... More

We had read the reviews about the view so decided to head up there as we were in HK for the day. So glad we did. The view from the top was gorgeous and after sharing it with 2 others for a few minutes we had it to ourselves for the rest of the time. Thankfully it was a really... More

This is somewhat of the beaten track so you will find mostly hikers and runners but in my opinion offers the best views of Hong Kong. It's not very well signposted but if you turn left at the pavilion off the morning trail at the peak and follow the the few steps down you will find the steps up to... More

Follow this trail for a view for an unmatched view of Hong Kong (and all for free). Skip the sky terrace and come here. This is much better and offers a truly spectacular view. It's a quiet, uninterrupted 360 degree view of the city and its islands. However, it's not an easy walk - the ascent consists almost entirely of... More

Its not easy to find the trail but that is a good thing. I did the mount Augustus peak in the same day which is amazing but crowded. High west peak is quiet and spectacular.

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
