Scenic visit, but more shops than history

If you want to come shopping for gifts, souvenirs, etc., this is the place to come. Good restaurants. If you're looking for real historical value, you might be disappointed.

Family loyalty, tremendous importance of study and cultivation of knowledge, respect for elders, sincerity, diligence, kindness- all expoused by Confucius in 500 B.C. All still present in modern Chinese families. Beautiful temple buildings and 8 ton bell. Jade carvings showing key scenes of Confucius life. See it and know why a red carp is so significant in China. Lovely at... More

Very nicely preserved (reconstructed) the area where greatest royal examination was conducted. Worth the visit to this place if you ever heard Confucius, a great Chinese teacher/scholar/philosopher etc. not the main attraction though in Nanjing but worth the visit if you have couple of hours to spare. Nice street filled with majority food shops and souvenirs.

Awesome architecture and beautiful lights after sunset. But be aware that it will be very crowded after sunset and be aware of pick-pocketing!

This area has a great historical atmosphere with lots of interesting sights and shops selling nic nac's, including mobiles, precious stones and selfie sticks. It's within easy walking distance of the Holiday Inn and a few large shopping Mall's.

If you've seen 4-5 temples and you are not big fan of history and Confucius. I wouldn't recommend going here to spend 30Y and and 30-50 minutes for this visit. I strongly believe there are other interesting places to see in Nanjing. But if you haven't seen as many temples as I did it is kinda nice :)

A small and quaint temple dedicated to the teachings of Confucius. A nice activity to indulge in for the afternoon.

This area was just ok. Cheap if you have nothing else to do. I've done so many of these types of temples and gardens that this wasn't one of the better ones.

It's more than just a temple, as the temple is just one part of the area. Temple itself is worth the 30RMB admission fee. Rest of the area is a huge shopping area, inside the area around the temple area are lots of little shops selling pretty much the same Chinese touristy stuff you see everywhere. Outside the gates its... More

Staying close to the attraction we visited it both day and night. Both brings with it very different experiences. Festive area with lots of local food to try. However one notices that everyone sells the same stuff! It is however lovely to walk around and the temperature in November was just nice. Also great place to learn more about the... More
