Just completed the ascent about a week ago. Went as a solo woman climber and had a wonderful female native guide. As an experienced mountaineer found it to be a good tough trek that involved some class three scramble in the final hour. Shocked that there's so little to brief people before they go. Caution you to bring your own... More

First of all: When you read some of the Trip Advisor reviews to Mount Agung you could think its extremely hard or dangerous. This was definitely NOT true. In my mind, every person can do this trekking as long as you feel fit and have a guide. But lets come to the trip: While researching the internet for a good... More

Warning: This is not for the faint-hearted, Acrophobia (those scared of heights), the unfit, or first time climbers. No technical climbing involved. Some parts of... More

I went alone with a guide on top. If your worries are animals and jungle in the night, it won't be anymore when you realize how terrain is actually tough and how fit you need to be to reach the top. Temperature on top is around 10*C so take something warm with you. It's unpleasant when you're on top sweaty.... More

Did a climb of total 13 hours and didn't make it to the summit cause 2 in our group couldn't take it. Be prepared. It's quite cold. Us being inexperienced climbers didn't prepare ourselves well and it was quite bad. We wore short sleeves shirts and brought only a thin wind breaker. At the top right after the base camp... More

Mount Agung dominates Bali; it is there, sombre, silent, brooding with cloud garlanding the summit. Hordes of tourists, trekkers that have braved the early morning journey to the top. For Balinese it is a place of pilgrimage. Eruptions have caused death and destruction and lava flow has devastated areas of the landscape. But even from the devastation comes renewal. Endless... More than good gripping shoes, an English speaking guide and sufficient clothing for the cold summit, you'll need a religious-like reason to successfully climb this mountain if you are unfit like I am. Anything else and expect to give in and turn back. This was the most physically challenging thing I've done in my life. For reference I don't do... More

this is a seriously hard climb, its not a treck or a walk. the information in the brochures and tour guides don't explain this at all. most of our group dropped out at the start as they wern't prepared for the conditions and wern't expecting the hike to be so intense. make sure you take good shoes with grip as...
