No visit to Sentosa is complete without meeting its most famous, 37-metre tall resident, the Sentosa Merlion. The legendary Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and a fish's body - as a guardian of prosperity which personifies Singapore's history as an important seaport. The lion head depicts the folklore of Prince Sang Nila Utama's discovery of lion (singa) and City (pura) while the fish tail symbolises the fishing village of 'Temasek', also known as 'sea-town' in Javanese. Set foot in the Merlion's mouth to get up close and personal with the legend. But don't stop till you get to the crown! At 60 metres above sea level, you will actually be seeing Singapore through the perspective of the Guardian of Prosperity. Come soak up the 360⁰ commanding view and bask in the aura of this endearing national symbol. You'll see why legends, myths and stories all point to this regal creature for the swift recovery of Singapore's economy from the Asian financial crisis.

We did not go to the top.of Merlion, but just came across the light show which happens every half hour from 7:45pm. It's for few minutes and brings out so many hues on the Merlion. A must watch in Sentosa. It's free of cost too!

A great place and explains the importance of the Lion in Singapore Culture. There are beautiful gardens nearby. One can go up to the head of the Merlion through an elevator. The night views are heavenly

Firstly, this Merlion statue is way bigger than the original Merlion. But the enchanting experience is the light show in the evening. its again not to be missed.

We are going for a 3 days trip to Singapore. We are family of three with one 3 year old kid. Thinking of following itinerary, please suggest if it's ok or need some improvement: Day 1 (Friday)- Zoo and River Safari Day 2 (Saturday) - Universal Studio and SEA Aquarium Day 3 (Sunday) - Flyer and some shopping. This day we have flight at 7pm. Didn't wanted to make it too taxing for the kid. Please advise. Thanks
