Food is EXTREMELY poor, so please don't even try. Chairs are uncomfortable and the band is seriously very very average. You are better off listening to old jazz records with drinks at home. Really. Singers off key and under prepared..and not good enough to jam. If you like jazz, or know a bit of Jazz, just don't go. But if... More

I have been twice, Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday the bluz band was not so good and will not try again on same day as they play weekly on Wednesday. But, Thursday night show was brilliant. Two girls, as I can remember the Wox Series, were excellent. They made really nice show which worth to be visited. They also play... More

I couldn't believe my eyes when I entered this bar ! If you're looking to soothe your nerves and have a calm evening look no further than this place. This bar is inside the Sultan hotel.Went on a Thursday and we were audience to a solo vocalist accompanied by a pianist crooning away to nice jazz numbers. The smoothness in... More

We arrived way too early - the 20:30 door opening time was a wee bit wrong - 1st set was at 22:00! We booked on line and found we had a table at the back - seems that if you phone you can reserve table! Staff were really good and moved us to the front, so the start was later... More

Good drinks, reasonably price, nice ambience, good-looking bartenders. Nice crowd as well. Away from all the noisy youngsters.

Booked online for a $25 show ($30 for door price) that started from 21:30 till 00:30 past midnight. Good place to chill out and listen to some nice jazz. The atmosphere was good. Service was alright too.

It's so hard to find good Jazz Clubs these days! This place was comfortable, had a great atmosphere and the music was top notch. The band played about 2 sets when I got there, which involved a lot of improv and original compositions, as well as a few standards. A couple of musicians in the audience were also recognised by... Went along to the Sunday jam session on a recent visit to Singapore. Website said 9pm, but no music happened until after 9.30 - but it was worth waiting for and was of a high standard. Plenty of musos turned up and we were well entertained til the wee hours. A special treat was meeting Marina, a real cracker of... More

We drove to 64 Aliwal and no Jazz club. We saw the Sultan hotel, on Jln Sultan, looked impressive, but no Jazz, all we heard is a "house party".

When Benny is not installing ground support systems around the world or playing his custom made guitar he is fulfilling his passion to provide a venue for the great local jazz talent in Singapore. I always seek out the local jazz clubs in cities while travelling and Sultan did not disappoint. Notwithstanding other comments about service my experience was fine.... More

Staying in Kampong Glam

Neighbourhood Profile
Kampong Glam
This traditionally Malay enclave of Singapore offers an alluring array of shops, cafes, and bars. A walk down Haji Lane offers quirky shopping, while one block over, Arab Street is a treasure trove of brightly coloured fabrics, clothing, and Turkish rugs. Stop for a leisurely coffee or cocktail and watch local kids play traditional games along the lane. Also home to the Malay Heritage Centre and one of Singapore’s most prominent mosques (Sultan Mosque), Kampong Glam is a must-visit for a tantalizing taste of Malay life in this city.
