You cannot visit Singapore without a short stopover by the founder of Singapore, Raffles himself, well worth a few moments of your time here at the Statue of Raffles.

A fine statue to the person who had a vision to turn a fishing village into one of the worlds trade hubs. If only he could see how far this island has come.

The statue of Raffles along the banks of the Singapore River is a replica. A very good one and in a good spot to make a good photo, however the original statue is in front of the Victoria building behind the parliament and Asian buildings.

When you see the growth of the city with its high rise and shopping malls, not sure how Raffles would react or how many tourists would understand his significance. Whilst not an amazing structure, I did appreciate the significance and the site of its placement

This statue indicates where Raffles first landed in Sinagpore. It is located along the Singapore river and has great views of the city skyline. You can take a nice stroll along this stretch. Opposite is Boat Quay with many quaint restaurants.

The Statue of Sir Raffles is located along the waterfront of the river. The area around is a nice place to walk and has some good open air places to have a bite and a drink. Good for taking photographs.

Whether this really is Raffles landing point is very debateable, but this is a nice memorial to the man who gave the world Singapore, but got very little but heartbreak in return. TOP TIP: two very nice bars to sit outside at sunset and enjoy...More
