The grand old dames of Singapore’s performing arts scene, Victoria Theatre...

The grand old dames of Singapore’s performing arts scene, Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall (VTVCH), returns after a three-year refurbishment to Singapore's growing arts and cultural landscape.

Its elegant Victorian facade is well-preserved, so are its famed clock tower and original passageway connecting the theatre and concert hall. Walk through this charming building to see its heritage elements carefully conserved, namely its 152-year-old twin domes.

Providing mid-sized performance venues, VTVCH fills a gap in the local arts scene, and now has improved acoustics, music and dance rehearsal rooms and state-of-the-art facilities.

A very beautiful complex of two buildings and a clock tower joined together by a common corridor; the oldest part of the building was first built in 1862, and the complex was completed in 1909. The Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall first began as the Town Hall in 1862. The buildings in the complex have been used for a number... More

No guided tours were available in the theater during our visit, so we ended up exploring it from the outside, with numerous photo-ops of it and the area surrounding it.

If youre a classical music buff just like me, then this place is where you often will go. The office of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra sits here. Often free concerts by them and other SSO performances are held here. This is where many Singaporean School Bands hire to play for their concert. Its a great ambience with british carves. Very... The over a hundred year old landmark architecture has been marvellously renovated at a price tag only a rich nation Singapore can afford in Southeast Asia. The acoustics at the concert hall is in quite good condition for my untrained ears. Free lunch concerts and reasonably priced introduction to orchestra for kids are great events for families. We have been to see classical music concerts here twice. This venue is a beautiful old historical building that is ideal for concerts, and has lots of character and atmosphere. It is also an excellent location in the centre of town right next to the river and near to Marina Bay. The staff are very good. The only small negative... More

Saw the plat, The Effect," by theater company Pandemonium. Really fun play- funny, philosophical, and sweet. The theater is modern, nothing like Vienna opera houses by way of ornate beauty. The Victoria building is stark but beautiful. Afterwards we walked around and ate dinner (overpriced) by the water and caught a cab at a hotel. Wonderful, wonderful evening out.
