Loved, loved this area of Chile. The beauty of the area is just beautiful and the drive is worth it as well. A beautiful glimpse at every turn.

You can take the ski lift or just stroll around. If the weather is good there are great views, but the cloud comes and goes, sometimes bringing thick fog, so be careful if you are walking. The café was disorganised - they forgot our order and it took nearly an hour to get served, more due to understaffing and lack... More

We stopped at the lodge and then did the relatively easy climb on the trail. Round trip took maybe an hour. Don't do the ski lift as you can hike further than it goes and your trek is free. We had a decent lunch of sandwiches at the lodge.

Volcan Osorno showed himself clearly from across Lago Llanquehue on my first night in Puerto Varas. Such a prominent old gentleman! In my ignorance I didn't snap a pic, expecting to get one in the morning. Sadly this wasn't to be as he was to shy to come out from behind the clouds. Still he gets 5 stars from me... More

We went with my girlfriend to climb the volcano, the summit was closed due to a seasonal mandatory order by city hall to avoid accidents when the glaciar is low...so you wanna check that out before that. Perfect off the track ski and very friendly rangers. Beware of the ski resort..they are quite rude if you are not a rich... More

Loved the whole area. Can't beat this view. Best photos of the whole trip. Snow capped peak all year long makes these views unbelievable.

We were lucky to visit volcan osorno in February on a morning when there were no clouds and it was sunny. However as soon as we climbed up to the ridge to get a view of the lake , the clouds were below us and covering the lake. It's a long drive but worth it if you can stop along... More

We did the drive up the Volcano to where the ski resort is . The road is tarmaced apart from the very last bit and is not too windy. There is a café about 2/3 of the way up where we had a cup of tea but I think it is better to wait until you get to the ski... More

If you have your own vehicle, drive. The roads are all paved and the views are amazing. You will want to stop very frequently to take pictures and the tours don't allow this. Go in the late morning early afternoon to avoid all the tour busses because it starts to get busy after lunch. Once you drive as far as... More
