The cathedral is stunning. I highly recommend it. Plaza de Armas however is just a square. Nothing special in my opinion but if you’re in Santiago it’s worth a look.

Some very nice buildings but did not feel safe. Lots of unoccupied people and prostitutes walking by at 2:00pm. Go see the buildings (post office), the Cathedral and get out.

It is the main square in Santiago with lots of history. Fantastic cathedral. But the best bit is to go to one of the bars on the square, grab a drink and maybe something to eat and watch the activity.

We weren't staying too far from here - walked down the one afternoon. Very busy, lots of people and street vendors selling all sorts of things. Lot of stores in the near by vicinity also, although not 100% sure the goods are authentic.

The old city revolves around the Plaza de Armas - it is the best starting point to a walking tour of Santaigo

Walked the streets of the old town and spent time in the Plaza enjoying a public concert. The atmosphere was entertaining and colorful, filled with people having fun.

Considering this is one of the central squares in Santiago, I was shocked to discover how quiet it was that night. It was also a bit dark-so I was not very comfortable in spite of a strong police presence.Lots of shops. Not that meny restaurants.

As the premier square in Santiago I was expecting the fringes to be occupied by bars and restaurants from where I could watch the world go by. In fact there are only two on the west side. Lots of activity going on and lots of...More

Worth a walk through with lots of activities going on. many locals go here to promenade, shop, and be seen. Be sure to go inside the Cathedral just off the plaza. Great place to see street artists at work.
