I visited from afar as part of the Tour4Tips tour. It is a cool story and I imagine if you love architecture and history it would be cool, but if you are a normal traveler, probably okay to skip it.

This once-grand train station is now pretty much an empty shell. There are three restaurant/cafes inside. There are also a few meeting rooms on the second floor. There are clean bathroom facilities in the lower floor. We did enjoy some quiet moments resting our feet in this huge former train station, which does offer free wi-fi.

This former trainsation was abandoned 1987 and turned into a cultural center as well as a place, where fares can be held in 1991. There were two small expositions when we were there. The big hall was empty. If you walk by it's worth checking out the building. Yet, I would't go there just for that.

This was a great looking former train station not far from my hotel, so I walked past it rather a lot. Supposedly it is used for events, but not when I was there.

Near Mercado Central the beautiful 1912 railroad station was designed by a French architect and it used to serve as the terminus for trains. Now it is a conference and art center.

Visiting the central district in Santiago requires a quick stop at the old Train Station. It is no longer in use as a train station, but has become a multi-use 'event' center. Theatre, are gallery, concert center, etc. Worth a look when you are in the area, especially when you visit the Mercado Central.

If you've seen everything else around the Mercado Central area and have nothing else to do, then stop in here, otherwise, not really worth seeing. It's a former train station which now holds art exhibits. I was there on a Thursday afternoon and it was almost empty.

Across the plaza from the market that no longer sells fruit and veg is the train station that no longer serves trains. The Estacion Mapocho was built at the beginning of the 20th century to celebrate Chilean independence and was the hub for all rail traffic serving northern Chile, the popular seaside city of Valparaiso and Argentina. An imposing and... More
